Experience

  • Swiss Social Security (AHV/IV)
    Process Architect and Business Analyst
    PUBLIC SECTOR
    April 2024 - August 2024 (5 months)
    St. Gallen, Switzerland
The Swiss social security administrations (AHV/IV) have grouped together in an interest association (IGS) which has the task to digitalize these public administration processes.
As a process architect and business analyst my task was to contribute to a consistent mapping of the business processes required by the various business groups, and their implementation with a workflow engine. In the transition from a traditional project organization with numerous external vendors to a SAFe based agile release train, I helped to position the process architecture group as a major enabler of flow and efficiency in the new agile setup.
Further I worked closely with data management to guarantee clear definitions in the firm wide glossary, to achieve coherent requirements for various software components developed. Part of my responsibility was to do the data management for an application that serves as record for the compliant work of each employee in form of protocols with 4-eye checks.
  • Bank Julius Bär
    Business Consultant
    BANKING AND INSURANCE
    September 2023 - December 2023 (4 months)
    Zürich, Switzerland
The need for consolidated reporting across a client’s overall assets has led to corresponding reporting services. Different strategies and priorities have led to a business side operational risk of these services, which I needed to bring under new Product & Service governance policies, defining the product approval and live cycle management reporting.
I was briefed in detail from operations management about the various operational models, serving various combinations of service models, which evolved over the years. I developed a conceptual framework and glossary to be able to express the product definition regarding the involved stakeholders, banking relationships, and services, including shadow booking, position vs transaction reconciliation.
Further, for the review of the product in global product boards, I had to line out the characteristics, features, and benefits, as well as risks, pricing, and business model of the product, and coordinate with various business side stakeholders.
  • LGT Private Bank
Lead consultant data modeling and data management
    BANKING AND INSURANCE
    January 2023 - June 2023 (6 months)
    Vaduz, Liechtenstein
LGT is an ultra-high net worth (UHNW) clients oriented private bank, strategically oriented towards sustainable investments. Consequently, they built a data framework group, for which I provided senior knowledge in data modeling and data management.
My role was to re-evaluate their Semantic Modeling strategy based on PoolParty, as SKOS based tool to do Models/Taxonomies. I identified VocBench 3, a native OWL2 based widely used open-source tool as alternative and created a roadmap how to leverage FIBO (Financial Industry Business Ontology) in LGTs semantic modeling strategy.
As well, I had to review their usage of data modeling with conceptual / logical / physical E/R models and the resulting meta-data from various data driven platforms such as Avaloq, Kafka Streams, BI Frameworks, Reporting tools.
Based on my findings, I defined a simplified version of the TDM approach I developed for Business Records Management and generalized it for Data Management and Data Governance. I modeled the methodology with a clear conceptual framework and derived an Eclipse Modeling Framework based prototype allowing to work based on example for the glossary, TDM, and data dictionary parts of such data catalogs. The methodology was used for one possible variant to implement new 2023 critical data regulation from the Swiss regulator (FINMA).
With this approach, I contributed to the detailed evaluation and proof of concept project for two data catalog tool vendors: Collibra and DataSpot. I showed how my approach can be implemented in Collibra by basically reflecting my meta-model with the Collibra built in OO no-code framework, and how in DataSpot my approach can be implemented out of the box as three connected models: one for the glossary, one for the TDM, the central entry point of the catalog, and one for each data dictionary.
