- Weizmann Institute of ScienceVisiting StudentRESEARCHMay 2019 - July 2019 (2 months)IsraelWorked on a research project for seven weeks at the Biological Regulation Department, Max and Lilian Candiotty Building, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. The project was to investigate post translational modification of a potential tumour suppressor down regulated by the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) in Breast Cancer. Delivered a presentation in lab seminar titled "SUMOylation of a Tumour Suppressor down regulated in Breast Cancer". Gained experience in co immunoprecipitation, western blotting, site-directed mutagenesis, standard cell-culture techniques, fluorescent cell staining and observed in confocal microscopy.
- University College CorkBachelors mini-thesis projectOctober 2018 - February 2019 (4 months)Cork, Co. Cork, IrelandI conducted my final year BSc project in the field of Cancer Research which was to investigate the role of the Insulin-Like Growth Factor-1 Receptor (IGF-1R) C-tail in endocytosis. As part of my project, I performed various cloning strategies to create a recombinant plasmid of IGF-1R. Some skills obtained from my research project included cloning techniques and immunofluorescence. The project was also written up as part of a mini thesis along with a literature review titled "Insulin-Like Growth Factor 1 Receptor Endocytosis, a synergistic relationship in Cancer". I also gave a presentation of my findings to fellow classmates and academic staff.
