I have been in the software industry for over 20 years. From writing the first line of code of our enterprise travel and expense SAAS solution through to being the CTO for over 15 years and part of the management team that directed the business through to a multi-million pound acquisition of that company in 2020.

I am happy to engage in projects using my skills as a full stack developer or my skills as a CTO, or anything in between. I am as passionate about writing code today as I was when I started my career 24 years ago. The majority of my experience is on the .NET platform and my primary language is C#. I have a lot of knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, building and tuning databases, APIs and enterprise Web Applications.

Led the end-to-end architecture and delivery of a data integration interface between a major ticket booking provider and an internal data warehouse, supporting a seamless transition to a new vendor. The project required aligning predefined data requirements with the new provider’s API and ensuring continuity in downstream reporting and analytics.

As the in-house team lacked technical expertise, I partnered with both my client and their end-client to drive a holistic review of digital platforms (website, apps) and internal workflows. Our mission: streamline operations, enhance integrations, and deliver a richer customer experience.

Following my SaaS Product Technical Readiness Review in October 2023, I was engaged to implement key recommendations from the report. Given the constraints of the existing codebase, we opted for a complete rewrite to develop maintainable, testable, and scalable code capable of supporting long-term business growth.

Key Initiatives:

- Product Rewrite:
Redesigned the product using a microservices architecture paired with a React frontend. Introduced comprehensive unit and integration testing for both the database and API, enabling continuous integration/delivery and reducing manual testing efforts.

- Agile Implementation:
Implemented Agile methodologies across the organization by deploying Azure DevOps for managing the backlog, forecasting, and sprint planning. Established structured workflows using Epics, Features, and User Stories to streamline development and improve project transparency.

- Cloud Transition:
Migrated the hosting environment from a dedicated server to the cloud after evaluating leading providers. Designed a robust infrastructure deployed via fully automated IaaS using Terraform and Azure DevOps Pipelines. Integrated Kubernetes for rapid scalability and introduced a dedicated testing environment for improved system validation.

Upon completion in October 2024, the newly enhanced infrastructure was successfully transitioned to an in-house development team, providing a sustainable and scalable foundation for future growth.
