Filipe Carvalho

Hello,

My name is Filipe Carvalho, I am a Mechanical Engineer, graduated one year ago from Coventry University, I have been living in Coventry since I moved from Portugal in 2018 to study and get my degree on Mechanical Engineering. After I finished my degree I had to move to Portugal to help/work with my parents on our own company which is called SEGMAG.

SEGMAG is a company where the main goal is to develop CNC miling machines with 4 axis from the ground, the CAD parts are done in 2D/3D and after this, every CAM of each part and the machines are built.

I also worked in companies, where I started to draw the first 3D models for CNC machines, in Glmei, a Leiria(Portugal) based company that works with industrial machines and the creation and development of assembly lines. During my time there, I drew in 3D CAD technology Autodesk Inventor and I also used the drafting techniques, my first product was to redesign part of a welding point machine in Spain.

I had two promissing projects in both my school and university years. In high school, the final project proposed to me was to do a robotic arm to help with the teaching of disabled children which was requested for a special education school, I accepted this challenge and built from scratch a 6 axis robot arm with more than a thousand assembled components and almost 350 units designed and machined by me. During my university years in mechinal engineering I also developed a 5 axis CNC miling machine 3D CAD/FEA from scratch including the market research, main goals and costumers needed. Although I have a vast mechanical background, my interest and emphasis lies on Design, I believe that with the right opportunities (such as this one) I will succeed and create new learning chances for myself as well.
