- Government Actuary's DepartmentAnalystPUBLIC SECTORSeptember 2024 - Today (1 year and 9 months)London, United KingdomI am currently working within the civil service as an analyst for the Government Actuary's Department. This role has been crucial to my development in the workplace, and I have learned a significant amount in a short time. I have learned proficient skills in Python, R Studio, Excel and actuarial techniques. In my most recent performance review, I received feedback such that I was awarded the highest mark available, due to my skills and behaviours I display on a daily basis.I have spent most of my time data processing and analysing pensions and social security data, where these projects have to be of the highest standard due to them being presented to politicians and could help with policy decision within government.
- Unit4Finance InternHUMAN RESOURCESAugust 2023 - September 2023 (1 month)London, United KingdomTo develop a better understanding of the corporate finance industry, I completed a 6-week internship within the FP&A department. This was a great insight into what it would be like for me after I graduate and gave me vital experience in this role. Experience:• My main project was part of a cost saving exercise where I had to analyse the raw data of Unit4's expenses and produce a detailed report and presentation of how they can reduce expenses. This was shared with the senior leadership team where they took my suggestions under advisement and were able to cut expenses by 15%. My work in this project is still brought up in board meetings.• I attended many departmental meetings covering different topics such as looking at the end of month reports and yearly projections, as well as day to day business.• I was able to engage with many different members of the team covering a wide range of level of seniority.
- St John's AmbulanceProject LeadHEALTH AND WELLNESSApril 2023 - October 2024 (1 year and 6 months)Birmingham, United KingdomDuring my studies, I was a Project Lead for SJA's NHS Cadets Programme. This was a great opportunity to take on more of a leadership and planning position that some of my prior roles did not give much access to.Responsibilities:• To organise captivating and informative sessions that I, and my Youth Support Worker, deliver to young cadets in person and remotely.• Manage sensitive topics in the sessions to ensure cadets feel safe and comfortable with the themes being discussed.• To encourage learning and volunteering outside of the programme to give the cadets more opportunities within the healthcare profession.• Manage my Youth Support Worker's workload and ensure they have the materials and tools required to undertake their role.
