- HORSE'S MOUTHDesign LeadMay 2016 - Today (8 years and 9 months)230 Park Ave, New York, NY 10169, USAAs a founding member of the Horse's Mouth collective, I helped the company grow from a set of principles into a studio/agency with a growing list of household-name clients, including P&G, Ariel, Sky, BP, Stella McCartney, Johnson & Johnson, Lewes FC and Miso Tasty. I continue to work with Horse's Mouth as design lead both in an advisory capacity and on a project basis, as is the Horse's Mouth way. I also drew that horse.
Linda Lauretta and 1 other person have recommended Max
He has been a wonderful mentor: he's able to create an environment people can thrive in. He constantly encourages taking time to explore art and design, and exchange new exciting finds.
He won’t shy away from sessions of constructive criticism, dedicating abundant time to help colleagues grow. He will always be genuinely interested in feedback to his own work from anyone in the team, hierarchy is a foreign concept in his creative process.
Max has taught me more that I could be able to put to paper, working with him has had a huge, positive impact on the way I approach creativity. One of the biggest and precious takeaways is to never cling to a good product: a fantastic finished product in time can always be just the starting point for it to continuously evolve into a better, stronger version of itself.
Max is hardworking and dedicated. Every single project I've seen him produce is a true product of love and care. He craves learning, and this shines in his work. Thanks to his perceptiveness and through constant research, I’ve seen him anticipate trends more than once.
If necessary, he will be able to put together something beautiful quickly, but he will always take any chance to dedicate research and reflection time to projects. One thing you can say about his work is that it's never derivative of his previous designs: in a world that promotes fast and mass production, you know you won't have a copy-paste product with him. He is dedicated and refuses to deliver the bare minimum.
He excels in creative thinking and problem solving. He has the ability to take one concept, dissect it, turn it upside-down and propose a creative solution with a product that looks beautiful as an ensemble and in every smallest detail.
I've seen him spot the tiniest misplaced pixel and ensure every text passes through tight knit proofing rounds. Quality in the detail is his trademark and to this day I think "what would Max do" before turning something to the client.
When you entrust your work to Max you know he will give the care, love and attention to your company or campaign as if it was his own.
He is highly empathetic and extremely human. This will show in his work, that engages emotionally other than logically, and it shines in his relationships with the people he works with, having an invaluable ability to establish connections and a trusting environment where everyone is enabled to thrive.
I look forward to having the joy of working with him again and I couldn't recommend him enough: if you manage to get him for your project, you're extremely lucky.
