I currently work as a freelance editor, proofreader, transcriptionist and book checker. This career path follows on from graduating with a First Class BA(Honours) in English Literature and Language. My studies were a combination of advanced linguistics, publication analysis, English as a global language and creative writing. These subjects therefore have given me the tools to both edit, correct and create various genres of writing.

I have proofread cvs, cover letters, dissertations, PhD theses and reports for individuals across the globe. Furthermore, I have edited three full works of fiction, with my word count exceeding 61,000. I have also spent time editing personalised children’s books where during busy periods I was checking up to 200 books a day. All of these positions have meant that from my edit the work has reached a standard whereby it is ready to be published. This means I have typeset, formatted and used style guides to ensure that the work looks professional as well as the content reading so. Finally, I have transcribed business conference calls meaning I am able to stay concentrated and meticulous for extended periods of time.

My plan is to one day complete a master’s degree however I am unsure what field to do this in so I am working towards gaining some experience. I have a keen interest in history and would love to work on any contemporary history pieces, such as film/documentary scripts and research for accuracy.

I am both creative and systematic in my approach to the English language therefore I will never finish a piece of work without it reaching the highest standard possible.

I work with Letterfest as a freelance Book Checker and Editor for personalised children’s books. During busy periods I am responsible for checking spelling, punctuation, spacing and the flow of around 200 books daily. This jobs requires accuracy and speed as the books must go to the printers for a certain time and my check is the final edit before it is printed. The level of trust that this company puts in my editing shows that I have a high level of attention to detail.

I have a freelance contract with LR Price Publications who specialise in fiction and non-fiction publications. I have worked as an editor to improve the grammatical, contextual and flow of a piece of fiction. I have typeset and formatted documents so they are ready to print alongside creating blurbs that showcase the novel. I must research locations, cultures and languages so that the novel has authenticity and tone.

I have gained experience at Proofessor providing proofreading, heavy editing and paraphrasing services. This service offers to improve the customer’s dissertations, CVs, recommendation letters and academic essays. I have received positive feedback from many different essay topics, specifically linguistics, management and healthcare. My speciality subjects are language and linguistics, history, philosophy and sociology. I am able to return work to the highest standard even with limited deadlines.
