I joined a large team at McGraw-Hill, tasked with developing and upgrading new features for their online education program, with a hard deadline for Fall 2021. The scale of the project was immense, with the largest (mono)repo I had ever encountered. Despite the challenges of onboarding, with limited opportunities for paired programming, I quickly dug in and worked to come up to speed. Within a month, I was able to roll out my first completed tasks, exceeding the average new hire expectations. My ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies, combined with my commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work, allowed me to make significant contributions to the project. Despite the pressures of the tight schedule and sprawling monorepo, I was able to thrive and excel as part of the team.
