As President of the UK Concrete Scanning Standard (UKCSS™) I lead the UK’s first dedicated framework for competence, consistency, and accountability in concrete scanning and non-destructive testing. The UKCSS establishes a national benchmark for survey quality, safety, and reporting integrity across the construction and infrastructure sectors.

My role involves steering strategic development, stakeholder alignment, and accreditation governance. I oversee the Register of Concrete Scanning Professionals (RCSP™)—a transparent competence framework designed to verify practitioner proficiency and embed ethical, auditable standards throughout the industry.

I direct technical committees defining best-practice methodologies for ground-penetrating radar (GPR), ultrasound, and impact-echo scanning, ensuring that guidance remains current with emerging technologies and ISO/UKAS requirements. This includes coordinating with contractors, asset owners, and regulatory bodies to promote measurable performance and risk reduction.

The role builds on two decades of field and leadership experience in non-destructive testing, compliance management, and operational excellence, giving me a practical foundation for policy and standardisation work. UKCSS has rapidly become the reference point for organisations seeking to professionalise scanning operations and align them with national safety and quality expectations.

I lead NDTScan, a specialist operation delivering high-accuracy, standards-compliant non-destructive testing (NDT) and concrete-scanning services for infrastructure, utilities, and heritage clients. My role combines commercial direction, technical governance, and innovation leadership to ensure surveys are transparent, auditable, and aligned with ISO 9001 / 17025 / 45001 principles and the UK Concrete Scanning Standard (UKCSS™).

I established the company’s operational framework, QA system, and training pathway to raise national competence levels in scanning. I also built partnerships with asset owners and Tier-1 contractors to integrate NDT data directly into structural assessment workflows, reducing inspection cycle times and improving safety outcomes.

My remit covers technology investment, talent development, and delivery oversight across complex, compliance-driven environments including HS2, Network Rail, Highways England, Thames Water, Severn Trent, and United Utilities. I introduced digital field-reporting tools and automated traceability protocols, increasing data accuracy by >30 % and shortening turnaround times by 40 %.

Beyond operations, I serve as the technical representative of the UKCSS™, ensuring our methodologies set measurable benchmarks for reliability and client confidence. Through NDTScan I continue to advance evidence-based scanning, bridging site practice with regulatory expectations and long-term asset-management goals.

I co-founded Structured Carbon to pioneer evidence-based RAAC remediation and carbon-fibre strengthening solutions for complex structures. The company merges structural engineering and construction delivery to create precise, compliant, and measurable outcomes across infrastructure, heritage, and public-sector assets.

My remit covers end-to-end operational leadership: project governance, programme management, and quality assurance aligned with ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001. I direct multidisciplinary teams delivering asset integrity assessments, non-destructive testing (NDT), and structural diagnostics that inform strengthening and life-extension strategies. Our projects apply advanced ground-penetrating radar, ultrasonic and infrared inspection to generate data-driven condition models for engineers and clients.

I co-developed bespoke CFRP manufacturing and installation workflows, eliminating one-size-fits-all reinforcement methods. I also designed and implemented continuous monitoring systems combining many different sensors. These initiatives improved accuracy, safety, and cost control while ensuring compliance with national and international standards.

Strategically, I built the operational-excellence framework that underpins every project, introducing lean delivery, risk-based quality management, and performance dashboards. I also lead stakeholder engagement with engineers, contractors, and asset owners to embed best practice and transparent reporting.

Structured Carbon now operates as a trusted authority in RAAC diagnostics and carbon-composite remediation, recognised for its technical rigour, innovation, and measurable client value.
