Mix curator and coordinator

Mix curator and coordinator for 7 of the 32 territories that the MixRadio app was available in. I was responsible for the coordination of mixes for UK, China, Russia, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Turkey. This required regular communication with the various Entertainment Managers in each country to understand requirements plus keeping them in the loop of new actions and initiatives from the Bristol head office. Responsibilities included maintaining each countries services with up to date and relevant playlists, making sure they were locally relevant, engaging and fun. Utilising report data to allow a deep understanding of trends, mix popularity and action points to keep active user return rates and listening time at a maximum. A deep understanding of various music genres, trends and news was a requisite. My area's of particular knowledge being Hip Hop, many of the Dance sub genres, Reggae and Pop plus Rock and Indie. I also have a deep understanding of these genres histories, key artists and releases. Our team worked using the Agile methodology. Working in 2 week sprints to complete projects, attending daily scrums to discuss progress and utilising Agile project management software to track projects. Liaising with dev teams and other stake holders to discuss improvement requirements. Other responsibilities included image management of curated mixes, advising various departments on the images used and making sure they are of high quality, relevant and positioned appropriately. I would regularly liaise with other teams to communicate issues and improvement requirements. I also maintained an active interest in other area's of the business such as UX design, events, branding and marketing.

Mix curator and coordinator for 5 of the 32 territories that the MixRadio app is available in. I was responsible for the coordination of mixes for UK, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Turkey. This was the same role as my role at MixRadio prior to the Microsoft redundancies. Competitor analysis was also a key part during this time, studying user click journeys and testing the usability of competitor websites and apps. We used this information to feedback to our developers and also tailored our playlists accordingly making them more readily discoverable and minimising unnecessary choice decisions for the end user. Our team worked using the Agile methodology. Musicologist

The musicology department of Nokia's music service 'Nokia Music' was responsible for the quality, requirements handling and management of its music related metadata. This involved knowledge and constant research of artists, catalogues and labels, data cleansing on large scales, liaising with labels and rights holders for clarity and updates, database maintenance, project management, an understanding of the internal systems and processes, an understanding of XML files, SQL database queries, Excel functions and Taxonomy management. Account management of 3rd party service provider responsible for supplying a vital recommendations service utilising the data we provided. Accomplishments: Research, creation and management of the music genre Taxonomy. This included the relational data of over 3000 genres and sub genres from around the world. This information was relied upon heavily by the MixRadio service later down the line. Creation of a logic set that helped systems accurately recognise the difference between a digital single, EP and album to allow each release to be presented online in its correct classification. This allowed users to find releases quickly and intuitively.

Online account handler for LoudEye set up by Peter Gabriel, which was a digital music retail web design and hosting company. Managing the online music stores of Coca Cola, Microsoft and MSN amongst others in multiple countries around the world. Responsibilities included management of several worldwide online music retail services. Keeping them up to date with digital music releases following chart movements, label requests and release priorities. This required an understanding of internal ingestion systems, XML and Metadata files, internal Metadata management tools, personal organisation. Also liaising with record labels, distributors and aggregators, maintaining professional relationships to achieve mutual goals.
