Sally Tipper

I'm a freelance editor and writer based in Brussels, open to long- and short-term collaborations. I work with a variety of media and corporate clients, including Mediahuis, European Service Network, Bulletin Media, King Baudouin Foundation, Cypres and Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Before moving to Belgium, I worked for the Press Association and in the regional press in England.

For Belgian content specialists Cypres, I edit, proofread and translate all sorts of communications: brochure and website copy, emails, tenders, white papers, social media, blogposts and video scripts.

I've written, edited and translated texts for Vrije Universiteit Brussel's bilingual magazine, and I work on internal and external communication and marketing materials for the university's press office.

I edit, proofread and translate press releases and publications for Mediahuis, and I write and edit European Commission project reports via European Service Network.

As deputy editor at Ackroyd Publications (now Bulletin Media), I've worked on a variety of English-language titles about Belgium – Flanders Today, The Bulletin, Expat Time, Wallonia & Brussels, Newcomer, Best of Belgium – both in print and online. I planned content strategy with fellow editors, commissioned writers and photographers, edited copy and wrote headlines, chose images and read proofs. I also contributed regular articles, from news to features to company profiles.

I've worked with Brussels' Migration Museum to produce exhibition texts and marketing material, provided editorial support to comms campaigns for European Commission events through Cecoforma, and edited features and analysis for the International Politics & Society Journal.

I've written event reports for Politico Europe, Tipik and the Economist Intelligence Unit, and worked as a translator, copy editor and proofreader for brochures and websites produced on behalf of government, non-profit and commercial clients. I've written city guides for TimeOut, Brussels Airlines and Culture Trip, cultural agendas for Eurostar's Metropolitan magazine and native advertising for Discover Benelux. I've been sub-editor on Belgian Beer & Food magazine, worked on a brochure for a Belgian brewery and written case studies for a management school.
