- Self-employedIndependent User Centred Designer & Product ConsultantSeptember 2025 - Today (9 months)- Working directly with founders, authors and small businesses to shape ideas into clear, engaging digital experiences that connect with real audiences.- My work covers the full journey from early conversations and wireframes/concepts through to visual identity, user experience, content structure and final delivery. I help clients untangle what they want to say, who they are speaking to and how to bring it to life in a way that feels authentic, usable and exciting.- Recent projects include collaborating closely with bestselling author Nicola May to design and build a bespoke website that reflects her personality and brand, alongside supporting marketing materials, layout, tone of voice and content flow. This involved translating a large body of work and ideas into a clear, approachable digital presence that fans can easily explore and engage with.- I have also partnered with clients to shape brand identity, visual language, interface design and supporting assets to create a cohesive experience across web, product and marketing touchpoints.- Alongside client work, I design and build my own digital products and iOS apps, taking ideas from concept through branding, UX design, implementation and launch. This hands on product work keeps me close to real user behaviour and continually sharpens how I approach clarity, accessibility and interaction design.- Writing and designing my own blog and social media posts, SEO and analytics.- While I'm comfortable delivering the technical build, my focus is always on people first, creating experiences that feel simple, purposeful and enjoyable to use.
- Redox Software (formerly)Senior UX DesignerMay 2021 - September 2025 (4 years and 4 months)- Redox was a bespoke enterprise software studio delivering multi-platform applications across the UK, Ireland and beyond, working with clients in finance, training and other regulated environments.- My role sat at the heart of shaping complex ideas into clear, accessible digital platforms, partnering closely with stakeholders, product owners and engineering teams from early discovery through to live delivery.- Much of the work focused on understanding real business challenges, simplifying messy processes and turning them into systems people could actually use with confidence.- Alongside client product work, I played a key role in strengthening Redox's brand and market presence. This included shaping website content and blog posts, refining visual identity and helping position the company more clearly within the enterprise software space.- A major focus was the creation of a cross-platform design system spanning Figma, React and Blazor. This established consistent visual language, interaction patterns and accessibility standards across six production platforms, improving usability, delivery speed and onboarding across teams.- The role remained hands-on across UX design, interface design and frontend implementation, always balancing user needs with real-world constraints such as regulation, accessibility, performance and long-term maintainability.- Mentoring designers and developers, reviewing work across teams and raising overall quality around usability and clarity formed a natural part of delivery.
- Page Visions LimitedDigital Team LeadJanuary 2004 - April 2021 (17 years and 3 months)London, UK- Over 17 years, progressed from Retail Account Manager into Senior Frontend Developer and Digital Team Lead, playing a central role in the agency's transition from print-led delivery to modern, web-based digital platforms.- Much of my time was spent embedded directly within large retail organisations, working side by side with stakeholders, suppliers and operational teams to understand complex processes and turn them into clear, usable digital systems. This wasn't typical agency work, but long-term partnerships, becoming a trusted extension of the client internal teams.- Led UX design, frontend architecture and delivery across major platforms for clients including Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury's, shaping solutions used daily across large supplier networks and operational environments.- Key projects included the design and build of the M&S Supply Chain App, a centralised platform used by over 100 suppliers to manage onboarding, compliance and documentation, replacing fragmented manual workflows w ith a single accessible system.-For Sainsbury's, transformed supplier onboarding from static PDFs into a secure, WCAG-compliant web application with SSO and role-based access, dramatically improving usability, data quality and operational efficiency.- Alongside delivery, acted as digital team lead, setting frontend and UX standards, mentoring developers and designers, reviewing work across projects and guiding multiple streams of work in parallel. Championed accessibility, clarity and user-centred thinking long before they became formal requirements, consistently focusing on reducing friction for non-technical users and improving real-world usability.- Played a key role in modernising the agency's technical approach, moving from static outputs to scalable, maintainable digital platforms while balancing hands-on development with client communication, scoping and long-term relationship management.
