I’ve been freelancing for 6 out of the 8 years in the industry, 2 of which were spent initially as a video producer at a startup business. I’ve mainly been self-taught for most of my career using YouTube tutorials and animation courses online to figure things out along the way as well as learning from senior motion designers I’ve developed close working relationships. The ultimate goal is to continue to improve my skillset and eventually become a senior motion designer myself; there’s still a lot more I want to learn as a midweight motion designer including 3D graphics.

Working with Garth was how I first started out as a freelancer, he's a Hull local like myself and we got in touch after I expressed an interest in being self-employed. We've worked together on projects for Currys
(involving custom character animations using Rubberhose in After Effects), Samsung (an explainer video on e-recycling), Cornerstone Financing (isometric graphics) and a brief video involving photo parallax
of static animals moving in 3D space.

I found James on Reddit after he advertised on one of the motion design subreddits seeking a freelancer to help him out on projects he was overloaded with. Since then, we've done work for Google Ads (a couple slick motion design short form videos on their onboarding webpages), Swift SC (involving use of kinetic typography), GoPuff festivals (Instagram ad) and content for other companies where I've refined my use of the 12 principles of animation as well as some audio music mixing in Premiere Pro.

I got in touch with Paul Banks the managing director of Digifish in my first year of freelancing, advertising that they were looking for a freelancer to help with projects due to a staff shortage and they've provided me with more work than I could've possibly imagined. These included videos for Coca-Cola (in-house content for their internal comms, a large display banner wrapped around the West Ham London Stadium and also attending their company conference in Manchester to do live editing on the day as footage was brought in of interviews and crowd b roll), the Universities of York and Warwick and many other various clients with the majority being explainer videos, character animations and editing interviews.
