  • AA (NZ Automobile Association)
    Strategy & Transformation Consultant
    CONSULTING AND AUDITS
    August 2021 - Today (4 years and 9 months)
    Auckland, New Zealand
A part of the fabric of NZ, the AA was facing challenging headwinds. The new CEO was seeking a new strategy that would be purposeful, stretching and embedded within the culture.

    Phase 1: Team Building
Recognising the need to bring the AA brands and divisions closer together and to collaborate more on service delivery, the leadership team held team-building exercises to forge stronger personal relationships and more aligned ways of working.

    Phase 2: Discovery
From the outset, the AA sought to build a strong repository of insights to inform strategic decisions. Research conducted included interviews with a number of global Motoring Clubs who are tackling similar problems, interviews with different companies that represent capability best practice (e.g. agile transformation), quantitative research with AA's Members, AA staff and the general population as well as interviews with AA's leadership team and board. Conducted desk-based research to determine the key trends impacting the future of the association (e.g. Mobility, sustainability...)

    Phase 3: Design
Taking the insights, the leadership team were taken through a series of strategy design workshops, starting with purpose, vision and guiding principles. Once the DNA of the organisation was crystalised, a strategic anchor was defined along with a strategic intent and key strategic priorities to address the anchor. Once priorities were clear, the focus shifted to strategic capabilities and strategic initiatives that should be prioritised to deliver the strategy.

    Phase 4: Delivery
Trevor was asked to assist with the presentation and storytelling of the strategy to the AA board to gain approval of the strategy, this was achieved with very positive endorsement from the board and CEO. Trevor was then asked to assist with the development of divisionally aligned strategies, strategic and divisional performance metrics and support with the design of the transformation and change programme to implement the strategy.

    York, United Kingdom
Established Fast Forward Consulting in 2021 to assist ambitious businesses to unlock growth through insight and customer-led strategy, to date there have been two significant engagements

    ● Strategy Development & Operating Model – NZAA (NZ) – NZ’s largest motoring association had a change in CEO for the first time in 30 years with functional silos, limited customer & staff awareness and no clear strategy. Contracted to help bring the new management team together through collaborative strategy design. Initially bought in to help guide a new vision and develop the new strategy, the success of this process led to multiple on sell projects including business and board communications and engagement, target operating model design, set up of the transformation programme, customer, sustainability and product strategies and cascading divisional strategies and performance metrics.
    ● Strategy Development & Implementation – GoSee Travel (NZ) - GoSee is Australasia’s preeminent vehicle and motorhome rental OTA. Initially engaged to deliver a new company strategy, go to market strategy and a business plan, project success led to two further phases of work which included business road-mapping, operating mode design, business transformation programme, performance and accountability framework and business coaching. A purposeful strategy was delivered, built on strong customer, market and business intelligence and collaborative business, executive and board engagement.
